RVHS Class of 2024 will hold their Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 11 at 6 pm in the RVHS Gym. Here are the rules, expectations and procedures for the event:

  • Seniors must have completed all graduation requirements prior to the ceremony

  • All debts must be paid to RVHS by Wednesday prior to the ceremony. Students with outstanding bills will not be able to participate in commencement

  • Seniors must turn in all equipment, uniforms, textbooks and library books by Wednesday prior to the ceremony

  • All students my be properly attired (see below) in order to attend and participate in the ceremony

Commencement is a special moment in your life and your attire should match the dignity of the occasion. In order to participate, students must follow the dress code below:

  • Students should wear dress clothes (i.e. slacks, dress, skirt, shirt with collar, dress shoes or boots)

  • Purple mortar board (cap) should be free of decoration or messages. There should be no messages attached to the cap or gown

  • Native American traditional dress, medallions and other Native American jewelry may be worn. The mortar board may be plain or beaded

  • Seniors may not carry balloons, water guns, silly string, etc.

All seniors need to attend graduation practice on Thursday, May 9 immediately following the RVHS awards assembly which begins at 8:15 am. On Saturday, May 11, seniors should arrive to the upstairs commons by 5:30 pm. They should wear their tassel on the right side of the cap at the start of the ceremony. Honor and high honor medals will be given to seniors prior to the start of commencement. Seniors will line up in a single file in alphabetical order for the procession to the gym.

Following the ceremony, seniors will walk in order out of the gym to the sidewalk in front where they will greet guests.
