Theme: Be the Person Who Makes Things Better
Our 4th graders participated in an anti-bullying lesson focused on empathy, confidence, and being an upstander.
Students explored how small actions can make a hard day better or worse through read-alouds like Stop Picking on Me and Say Something. We discussed how words and choices impact others and how speaking up helps create a kinder school environment.
To build self-confidence, students shared positive things about themselves in an “I Love Me” jar, reinforcing how feeling good about who we are helps us treat others with kindness.
We also practiced simple strategies for handling big feelings, pausing to breathe, using coping tools appropriately, and using words instead of hurtful actions. Through discussion and short Bystander Revolution videos, students learned the difference between bystanders and upstanders and how small choices can make a big difference.
We closed with a calming breathing exercise and a reminder that when we calm our bodies, we can make better choices.
Our big takeaway was, be the person who makes things better for yourself, your classmates, and your school.
Thank you for partnering with us as we support empathy, confidence, and kindness every day!
