Mrs. Geis and Mrs. Martin organized the Future Now: Finance simulation for all RVHS juniors and sophomores. During the event, students were assigned a credit score based on their GPA and attendance, then selected a future career and received a corresponding monthly salary. They also had the option to determine their lifestyle—such as being single or married, having children, and even owning pets.
Throughout the simulation, students visited various booths representing real-world expenses, including insurance, food, transportation, housing, clothing, childcare, education and training, entertainment, emergency funds, and unexpected life events. The activity provided students with a valuable, hands-on understanding of budgeting and financial decision-making in adult life.
Junior, Panno Wahwassuck said, "I really liked the event. It was very beneficial and it was neat to see what our future lives will potentially look like."
Junior, Soonwy Wahwassuck said, "I thought the event was good but it was a little stressful trying to manage our monthly income."
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success! We truly appreciate your time and dedication in helping our students better prepare for their futures.
