7th grade students in Mrs. DelToro's Kansas History class recently created their own lithograph print tiles and printed four notecards, inspired by the Prairie Printmakers of Lindsborg in 1931! Each student chose or designed artwork that connected back to Kansas in some way. Students were excited and pleasantly surprised to see how their designs turned out once they were printed.
The Prairie Printmakers were a group of artists founded by Birger Sandzén, an art professor at Bethel College. Their goal was to create public interest in printmaking by offering affordable artwork that would appeal to many people. Much of the group’s original artwork depicted life in Kansas.
A huge thank you to Cory Triplett for collaborating on this project, providing the use of many art tools, and sharing his expert knowledge to help guide students throughout the process!
