Life Skills

On Friday, April 17th, RVMS 7th and 8th grade students had the opportunity to participate in an engaging and practical Life Skills lessons designed to prepare them for everyday responsibilities beyond the classroom.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Baxter for organizing such meaningful and impactful learning opportunities for our students, as well as to all of the presenters who shared their time, knowledge, and expertise!

Students explored a wide range of topics, including:

  • Mr. Green – Making Eggs

  • Mike Henry – Basic Car Care

  • Mrs. Dressman – Writing Thank You Notes & Addressing Envelopes

  • Ms. Whelchel – Laundry Basics

  • Mrs. DelToro – Ironing

  • Mr. Glotzbach – Using a Tape Measure

  • Ms. Baxter – Understanding Sales Tax & Calculating Tips

  • Nurse Jeff – Basic First Aid

  • Mr. Platt – How to Tie a Tie

  • Mrs. Cole – Baby Care

  • Mrs. Bienhoff – Sewing (Patches & Buttons)

  • Rusty Douglas – Basic Tools

  • Mr. Bliss – College Basics

  • Mrs. Dubois – Reading a Paystub

  • Bailey Parker – Peeling & Chopping

  • Mrs. Wick – Completing a Job Application

These sessions provided students with valuable, hands-on learning experiences that build independence, confidence, and essential life readiness skills!

Students will have another opportunity to participate in additional life skills sessions on Friday, May 1st!
