In Spanish II, students recently did an activity to practice their vocabulary. Instead of traditional worksheets, they were asked to turn sentences into drawings. Each student drew a sentence using the current vocabulary, focusing on showing meaning through images rather than words.
Afterward, classmates looked at the drawings and tried to write the original sentence based only on what they saw. It challenged them to think carefully about the vocabulary. Once they finished, students compared their sentences to the originals, noticing similarities and differences.
The activity not only helped reinforce vocabulary, but also showed how understanding a language goes beyond memorization. Overall, it was a simple activity that got everyone involved and thinking in a different way!
“I really liked what we did with the vocabulary, and it’s a fun activity that really helped me learn and memorize the vocabulary words,” said Sophomore Cheyenne Kottman.
