2026 STATE WRESTLING INFORMATION

ADMISSION / TICKETS:

e. Hays- Gross Memorial Coliseum: Tickets can be purchased on site only.

TEAM PRACTICE:

a. Team practices the day before the tournament are allowed as follows:

o 3-1A: You can practice from 4:00pm-7:00pm in the practice facility. FHSU is hosting basketball on Thursday night. The wrestling rooms and also a back gym will each have two mats in them. In addition, a check scale will be in the hallway for you to check your weight. To avoid traffic, please drop off and park in the west side lot next to the bypass and please avoid the main north parking lot and the east parking lot, which is VIP parking for basketball.

4. PASS GATE:

a. Only those individuals listed on the pass gate will be let in. No handwritten changes will be permitted on the day of the event, unless modified by the KSHSAA representative.

f. Hays- Located on the East side of the building.

5. TEAM COOLERS: No crockpots, No grills, No cooking at all. No food can be brought in by parents.

d. Gross Memorial Coliseum: One team cooler to be kept on the indoor track area.

6. CAMPING AREAS:

a. No blow-up furniture is permitted. There are no exceptions to this, as it was a problem last year.

b. No televisions

c. Clean up after yourselves.

7. COACHES MEETING:

a. Please plan for a coach meeting on the first day of the competition at 8:15am. This will be for all head coaches.

8. SCHEDULE:

a. The tournament schedule is located within the included State Program.

9. COACHES/PERSONNEL MAT SIDE:

a. During tournament competition, “a maximum of two team personnel” (coaches and/or non-participating contestants) will be permitted on chairs at the edge of the mat……. (NO EXCEPTIONS).

b. It is the responsibility of all coaches to maintain compliance with this rule and not place your responsibility in the hands of an official. Likewise, it is important that all officials are consistent in addressing this issue in fairness to every wrestler and school as well as respect to other officials who are enforcing the rules.

10. WRISTBANDS / HANGTAGS:

a. Wristbands are required to be worn by those entering through the pass gate. No wristband will be re-issued.

b. Coaches will be given a coach hangtag pass to coach mat side. (In the school packet)

c. Athlete hangtags should be visible on the wrestlers’ backpack or warmup suit. (In the school packet)

d. Wristbands and hangtags will be issued to medical personnel and school trainers.

11. FACILITY GUIDELINES:

a. Failure to follow facility and KSHSAA guidelines will lead to a dismissal from the facility.

13. OPENING CEREMONIES:

a. Listen to announcements when made.

b. Wrestlers will be given directions from the tournament manager for opening ceremonies.

14. AWARDS PRESENTATIONS:

a. Simply Better Photography will be taking photos of the medal presentations. Photos will be available for purchase. Order information is in this packet, in the program and on our website on the State Information page.

b. The top six wrestlers in each weight class will earn medals. Each medal winner must be in a school issued uniform or warm-up. Not hats are to be worn.

c. The top three teams in each classification will be awarded trophies.

15. LIVE-STREAMING:

a. The tournament will be streamed on the NFHS network, using Track Casting features from TrackWrestling.

b. Any patron or school using Facebook live or other streaming methods will be dismissed from the facility for violating the live streaming contractual agreement.

16. APPAREL SALES:

a. State Wrestling apparel will be sold at the arena, and available to order online for a limited time after the tournament. Please see the enclosed information.

COMMEMORATIVE PROGRAMS:

a. Tournament programs will be for sale at the venue for $4.00 each, and any unsold programs will be available online for a limited time.

CONCESSIONS:

a. Concessions will be available at all venues. No outside food or beverages are permitted, except for athletes as specified.

COMPETITION MATS:

a. The competition mats are provided by Dollamur Mat Company.

b. The championship finals will be conducted on one mat for boys and one for girls.
