Growing Opportunities

Jace Johnson has recently received a $1,000 grant to support his Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project through FFA. His SAE focuses on beef entrepreneurship, where he manages 10 head of Black Angus cows by breeding them with his own bull and raising the calves for approximately nine months. Once the calves are ready, Jace sells them at local livestock auctions.

Jace plans to use the grant funds to support his cattle’s nutrition and overall health, as well as to purchase bale rings and mineral feeders to improve daily care for the herd.

Jace has been working on his SAE project for the past two years and has spent much of his life helping on the farm alongside his grandpa. “I’ve worked on the farm with my grandpa almost my whole life, and I find a lot of joy in it because I love working with animals,” Jace shared. “Being able to do this and make money at such a young age is awesome, and it’s a great way to develop a strong work ethic.”
