Wreaths across america

Participants were invited to take part in the local Wreaths Across America ceremony, honoring fallen service members laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.

The ceremony began with an opening prayer led by Tim Reino, Chaplain of Holton VFW Post #1367. Following the prayer, VFW Adjutant Tim Unrein shared a moving story about a soldier, Lt. Col's, who served in the Vietnam War. The ceremony continued as each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces was honored with a wreath placed at the base of the Iwo Jima Memorial, along with an additional wreath dedicated to Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action (POW/MIA). Members of Holton VFW Post #1367 then concluded the ceremony with a respectful three-volley salute.

Following the ceremony, attendees participated in laying wreaths at the resting places of fallen service members.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday, December 13th, to honor and remember those who served our country.
