seatbelts

From December 8th–12th, JCYC hosted a Spirit Week focused on promoting safe decision-making during the winter season. Each day featured a themed dress-up activity paired with an important driving safety message, encouraging students and community members to make responsible and healthy winter habits while driving!

Monday: Christmas Pajamas (Don't get caught snoozing behind the wheel!)

Tuesday: Winter White Out (As the temperature drops and roads become slick, remember to drive with extra caution!)

Wednesday: Festive Flannel (Winter has just begun, don't text and drive!)

Thursday: Ugly Sweaters (Wear your seatbelts and put phones away to prevent an ugly situation!)

Friday: Holiday Bling (Keep your holidays merry and bright - Buckle up!)

In addition to Spirit Week, JCYC invited RVHS students to sign pledge cards during Tuesday’s lunchtime, committing to always wear their seatbelts. On Thursday, JCYC members and students wore holiday tape across their shirts in the shape of a seatbelt as a visual reminder for everyone to buckle up and stay safe.

Sophomore, KiWe Miller- "I like this activity because it reminds other people to wear seatbelts."

Senior, Mya Snyder- "I think it was fun to wear flannel, and I liked seeing my friends wear theirs. It also gets everyone in the Christmas spirit."

Senior, Griffin Cumpton- "Spirit week is really fun and I wore my moms sweater and it was cool because I matched with Nalanie."
