Each month, the RVHS SAFE (Seatbelts Are For Everyone) Organization hosts pledge card signings during lunch. By signing, students commit to always wearing their seatbelts and avoiding texting while driving. These small but powerful pledges serve as a reminder of the importance of making safe choices both behind the wheel and as a passenger.
This month during the pledge card signings, RVHS students had the opportunity to spin a wheel and win prizes!
The mission of SAFE is to raise awareness about seatbelt use, the dangers of distracted driving, and overall traffic safety. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), seatbelts reduce the risk of death for front-seat passengers by 45%—a powerful reminder of why buckling up truly saves lives. #BUCKLEUP
Later this school year, RVHS SAFE will host a Traffic Safety Week, filled with events and activities designed to educate and engage students in making responsible decisions on the road. Stay tuned for more details!
Senior Madison Blackwood states, "I have been in SAFE all 4 years and I really enjoy helping with the pledge card signings during lunch. It's a good reminder to our students and staff to always buckle up."
