Royal Valley FFA’s theme this year is Tropical, and what better way to kick off the school year than with a Luau BBQ followed by an Ag Backers meeting!
The Royal Valley FFA Ag Backers Alumni and Supporters group was established in January 2024 during our Open House for the new facility. The 2023–2024 officer team wanted to create an organized National FFA Alumni and Supporters chapter as one of their goals. They recognized the incredible support our community has for our program and knew our chapter would benefit from this group.
We chose the name ‘Royal Valley FFA Ag Backers’ to welcome all supporters. Using ‘Alumni and Supporters’ in the name might have discouraged people who weren’t in FFA from joining. Since its founding, the group has grown rapidly. Today, it has a three-person officer team and over 60 members. They initially met monthly and now meet less frequently. The Ag Backers host a major fundraiser in February, featuring a mountain oyster fry and live band. They have also supported the chapter by providing food at events, sending goody bags to state convention, sponsoring a portion of the National FFA Convention, funding members to attend Next Gen, and helping American FFA Degree recipients reach the National Convention. They’ve truly been a blessing to our program!” said Ms. Clark.
“I think it was really fun, and I’m glad that I went,” said Delaney Ross.
To round out the night, four FFA members competed in a spirited game of cornhole that lasted nearly an hour.
