This week in Mrs. DelToro's Kansas History class, students were asked to recall a scene from the historical fiction novel they are currently reading, "Girl of Kosovo" by Alice Mead. Students used Legos to recreate their scenes!
Students were given 15 minutes to create their scenes, students were allowed to combine their Legos with a partner or work individually on their scene. The class went on a Gallery Walk of all of their classmates' scenes, and then each student or student pair presented what scene they had picked from the book to recall and explain to the rest of their classmates.
Students were so creative and so excited to talk about their scenes. They were heard saying, "Legos and history?!?!" "This was fun!" "I hope we get to do this again!"
