On April 8, Mrs. Swank plans on taking 5 groups of 5 students to the Red Rock Guest Ranch in Soldier, KS to compete in the Envirothon Competition.

The students will arrive at 8 AM, then walk around to 5 environmental science content areas. The areas are Forestry, Soils, Aquatics, Wildlife, and a Current Issue, which is water use this year. At these stations an experienced field professional will teach the group about the certain topic, and students will encounter hands-on samples and be able to ask questions to these professionals.

After going around to each station, students will meet back with their school teams to discuss what they learned. Then each team will go back to the 5 stations and take a test with their teammates. Once tests are completed, they will be scored, and schools will receive their rankings/standings.

If the students score well, they may be able to attend Nationals in Lincoln, Nebraska.
