On March 30, at Halstead, Royal Valley had 5 athletes participate in state powerlifting. There were 174 lifters from schools all over Kansas who competed in this state-wide event. 

For the women's section, senior Daniela Fabila earned 1st place in Squat and Clean, and 3rd in Bench, earning her the title of state champion for Overall weight in the 156 lbs weight division. 

Kaylee Klem-Andrews earned 3rd in Squat, and 5th Overall weight for the 156 lbs weight division.

For the men's section Brandon Rodewald earned 3rd in Squat as well as 3rd in Overall weight for the 220 lbs weight division.

Komesh Spoonhunter earned 2nd in Clean and 4th for Overall weight at the HWT division.

Kyler Steinebach earned 3rd in Squat as well as 3rd in Overall weight for the HWT division.

Lifting Coach Lott commented, "The overall performance was very good. We had everyone who went to state get a medal. We had some good competition and we performed well."

He also stated, "We had almost everyone who went get a personal record for their lifts."
