Ozobots are tiny robots that move by sensing color. They can run on paper or an iPad. Students are using block codes on the computer to program the ozobot. If they don't code it correctly, they have to try it again to have a successful run. This week 3rd and 4th graders are using the Ozobots in the computer lab.

Recently Emma McKinsey and Lilly Rooks found out their Unsung Hero project about Eliza Potter placed 3rd in the nation at the Lowell Milken Center for the Unsung Hero!
Eliza Potter was a nurse who lived in South Carolina, a Confederate state. She tended union Soldiers during the Civil War in 1861-1865. Her contribution to American history is that she showed people that they can stick with their beliefs and not follow everyone else.
"Learning about Eliza was very fun. I am glad that I had the opportunity to learn more about her. I'm proud that we got third, but I wish we could have done better," reflected Emma McKinsey.
"This project was fun and enjoyable; however, I wish the outcome was better," added Lilly Rooks.

Last spring the class of 2023 made three quilts to present to three deserving Veterans this November at an all school assembly. We are taking submissions from the school and community for names to put in the drawing to see who will receive the quilts. There is a nominee form that you need to fill out and return to the school by October 12, 2017 with your nominee’s information. You can print this form or come into the RVMS school office and they will provide a form for you to fill out. /vimages/shared/vnews/stories/59b94796647fd/20170911151820906.pdf
Guidelines to be presented a quilt are simple: any warrior who has been touched by was, no matter when his or her service, is eligible to receive a Quilt of Valor.
We would like the recipient to have been from or, live in Jackson County but, that is not a mandatory qualification, just a request.
Let’s “cover” three Veterans with these beautiful quilts!
