George Washington's Mount Vernon has chosen Mr. McAlister and five other educators from the US to participate in a incredible opportunity to enhance their 18th-century knowledge, explore different teacher techniques, and create a new curricula for Mount Vernon during their residential fellowship at the Fred W. Smith National Library for the study of George Washington.
Mr. McAlister will travel to Washington D.C in the summer and focus on George Washington's Native American policy during his presidency. He will identify documents, players, and events that will help students analyze what became the groundwork for the United States and Native American policy in the decades and centuries that followed.
Mr. McAlister commented, "I am very excited! Being able to spend three weeks at Mount Vernon, sifting through President George Washington's papers, is an amazing opportunity. It is a History Nerd's dream."
